Managing Decisions

The Decision Log captures key decisions made during project execution, creating an audit trail of what was decided, when, and by whom.

The Decision Log

Open Decisions from the navigation menu to see all Decisions across your Organization. Each row shows the decision name, description, status, associated Issue (if any), Project, accountable person, and date.

As with Issues and Risks, you can also view Decisions scoped to a single Project from the Decisions tab on any Project detail view.

Filtering and sorting

  • Status – Complete, Amended, or Rescinded
  • Accountable – filter by the person accountable for the decision
  • Sort – by name, status, accountable person, or project
  • Search – real-time text search across all fields

Creating a Decision

Click the add button on the Decision Log or on a Project’s Decisions tab. In the slide-out panel, enter:

  • Decision name (required, up to 100 characters)
  • Detail (optional, up to 250 characters)
  • Date (optional)
  • Project (optional)
  • Associated Issue/Risk (optional) – link to a related Issue or Risk
  • Accountable (optional) – the person accountable for the decision

New Decisions default to “Complete” status.

Editing a Decision

Expand a row to see and edit the full detail. In addition to the fields from creation, the expanded view includes RACI fields:

  • Accountable – the single person accountable for the decision (selected from your Resources)
  • Responsible – who is responsible for implementing the decision (free text, up to 100 characters)
  • Consulted – who should be consulted (free text, up to 100 characters)
  • Informed – who needs to be informed (free text, up to 100 characters)

Decision statuses

  • Complete – the decision stands as made
  • Amended – the decision has been modified since it was originally made
  • Rescinded – the decision has been reversed or cancelled

Linking Decisions to Issues

When creating or editing a Decision, you can link it to an associated Issue or Risk. This connection is visible from both sides – the Decision shows its linked Issue, and the Issue’s expanded view lists its associated Decisions.
