VPMHR’s status model is designed to surface problems early. Instead of a single overall status, every Project is assessed on three independent dimensions.
The three dimensions
- Scope – is the Project delivering the right scope?
- Resources – does the team have adequate resources?
- Timing – is the Project on schedule?
Each dimension is rated independently:
- Green – on track
- Yellow – at risk
- Red – off track
- Undefined – not yet assessed
Setting status
Expand a Project card and open the Status tab. You’ll see four selectable buttons for each dimension. Click to set the rating. The overall status recalculates automatically.
Below the three dimensions, there’s a Status description field (up to 250 characters) where you can add context about the current state of the Project – for example, “Delayed two weeks pending vendor contract”.
How overall status is calculated
The system combines the three dimensions into a single overall status using this logic:
- Any dimension is Undefined = Overall Undefined
- Any dimension is Red, or all three are Yellow = Overall Red
- Two dimensions are Yellow = Overall Yellow
- All dimensions are Green = Overall Green
This means a Project can’t hide a resource problem behind good timing and scope. If two of the three dimensions are showing caution, the overall status escalates.
The overall status is what appears on the Project card header, the Dashboard, and in Program and Strategic Theme summaries throughout the application.
