Groups represent the departments or divisions within your Organization. Projects and Resources are assigned to Groups, making them the primary way you organize your portfolio. To access your Groups, open Groups from the navigation menu.
What you’ll see
The page displays a grid of Group cards. Each card shows the Group name, description, and counts for assigned Projects and Resources. Click any card to open its detail page.
Viewing a Group
A Group’s detail page shows:
- Group details – the name and description, which you can expand and edit
- Assigned Resources – team members in this Group, showing their headshot, name, and job title
- Assigned Projects – Projects in this Group with status indicators (colored circles showing Green, Yellow, Red, or Undefined)
Editing a Group
Expand the Group Details section to update the name or description. Save and cancel buttons appear once you make a change. Group names must be unique within your Organization and can be up to 50 characters. Descriptions can be up to 250 characters.
Deleting a Group
Click the delete icon on the Group detail page. You’ll be asked to confirm, as deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Any Projects and Resources assigned to a deleted Group are automatically moved to the “Not Assigned” Group – nothing is lost, the items just need to be reassigned.
The “Not Assigned” Group
VPMHR automatically creates a “Not Assigned” Group when you set up your Organization. It acts as a holding area for Projects and Resources that haven’t been placed into a Group yet. This Group can’t be renamed, edited, or deleted.
Click into the “Not Assigned” Group and you’ll see a reassignment interface where you can move items into the appropriate Group. You can reassign multiple items at once and save them in a single action.
