Strategic Themes represent your Organization’s strategic pillars or objectives – the big-picture goals that your Projects should be working toward. Examples might include “Digital Transformation”, “Employee Experience”, or “Operational Excellence”.
How Strategic Themes differ from Programs and Groups
- Groups organize work by department – each Project belongs to one Group
- Programs organize work by initiative – each Project belongs to one Program
- Strategic Themes organize work by objective – each Project can be linked to multiple Themes
This means a single Project might belong to the “Talent Acquisition” Group, sit within the “HR Transformation” Program, and support both “Digital Transformation” and “Employee Experience” Strategic Themes. Each lens gives leadership a different view of the portfolio.
This enables us to align Projects both within business Strategic Themes and also those specific to the HR function.
The Strategic Themes page
Open Strategic Themes from the navigation menu to see your Themes displayed as expandable cards. Each collapsed card shows:
- The Theme name
- The number of linked Projects
- A status summary showing how many linked Projects are Green, Yellow, Red, or Undefined (e.g., “G: 3 Y: 1 R: 0 U: 2”)
This gives you a quick read on how well each strategic objective is being supported and whether the Projects driving it are healthy.
Searching and sorting
Use the search box to filter Themes by name or description. The sort dropdown lets you order Themes alphabetically (A-Z or Z-A).
